Some KBSA members offer additional protection for their customers, in the form of ConsumerCare Plus. This insurance protection is underwritten by HCC International Insurance Co Plc, a specialist UK authorised insurance company.
In the unlikely event of your chosen retailer ceasing to trade, and in addition to the standard protection of deposits up to 25% of the total contract value paid (up to 180 days prior to installation), ConsumerCare Plus also provides protection for Advance payments up to 75% of the contract value (paid up to 14 days prior to commencement of work), as well as providing insurance against non-completion of up to 15% of the total contract value and a 6 year warranty period.
The following is to provide you with a guidance summary but does not contain the full terms and conditions and does not form part of your contract of insurance.
The body responsible for administrating the scheme is KSA Ltd trading as The Kitchen Bathrooms Bedroom Specialists Association (KBSA)
HCC International Insurance Co Plc (HCCI), a specialist UK authorised insurance company underwrites the policy.
The KBSA member pays premium for the policy directly to HCCI. You will not be asked to pay any premium.
The insurance protects you against the following on contracts priced of up to £75,000, where the KBSA Member fails to carry out and complete the installation due to ceasing to trade (except for small excesses which you will have to pay):
If you wish to make a claim you should contact the Claims Helpline which is operated by KBSA(tel: 01623 818808). The scheme does not provide cover for repairs carried out by you without our agreement. In most cases we will appoint another KBSA Member to complete the installation or rectify any defect.
This insurance is transferable to subsequent purchaser of your property.
Complaints relating to this insurance should initially be made to KBSA (tel: 01905 621787; email ccp@kbsa.org.uk) and then to HCCI (tel: 01664 423311; email consumercareplus@hccint.com) and finally to the Financial Ombudsman Service (tel: 0845 080 1800). Full details of the complaints procedure can be found in the insurance policy. If your complaint concerns issues other than insurance then it will be handled by KBSA under their complaints handling process.
